So this is me and the fam circa 2015 in La Spezia Italy. Life is pretty good but it hasn't always been a walk on the beach.
My first job was as the sole copywriter in a small retail ad agency in Atlanta. It was 1985 and we were the first agency for a little start up DIY store called Home Depot. After four years, clients like Home Depot and Haverty's Furniture had outgrown the firm and the copywriting was on the wall. I left in 1989, and have been freelancing ever since.
I met my wife, Lorraine, a few years later and we moved to the mountains of western North Carolina the day before the Blizzard of '93. We've got two amazing kids who have fledged the nest and finding their own way in the world.
Everything I know about marketing, business leadership and effective communication is self-taught. You can't learn it out of a book. Along the way, I've met, worked with and learned from so many incredible people. That is why I get up in the morning.
Life is quite a journey. At the end of the road, when you look back, only two things will have mattered: Who'd you love and who loved you. It really is all about the relationship.
